Alissa Tafti, Co-Executive Director

Alissa Tafti is a federal union leader, economist, and has served as President of AFGE Local 2211 and chairs the Federal Labor Caucus for the Northern Virginia Labor Federation, where she helps lead national and regional organizing to protect public service and worker rights.

In these roles, Alissa has become a leading voice in defending the rights of federal workers, mobilizing against authoritarian threats to the civil service, and building labor solidarity across agencies and regions. She also served as a Senior International Economist at the U.S. International Trade Commission, with expertise in global agricultural production and international trade.

She led high-impact investigations—such as serving as Project Leader for key reports like “Apparel: Export Competitiveness of Certain Foreign Suppliers to the United States.” She holds an MA in International Relations and International Economics from Johns Hopkins SAIS and a BA in Comparative Literature and Philosophy from New York University.
